
TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT
The Department of Media Communications and Public Relations is a cornerstone academic and scientific division that harmoniously integrates modern media trends with classical academic foundations. The faculty is dedicated to ensuring that students not only acquire theoretical knowledge but also evolve into competitive specialists through immersive experiences in real-world professional environments. Each year, students of the department complete internships at the country’s leading media holdings and prestigious corporations, honing their skills in the field. Furthermore, during research, pedagogical, and pre-graduation internships conducted under the direct methodological guidance of the department, students successfully synthesize academic knowledge with scientific and professional practice. The Attestation Commission consistently awards high marks for the level of preparation and the quality of work presented by the students. This serves as a clear testament to the relevance of the educational programs and the efficiency of the department’s practice-oriented teaching system. Graduates of the department are competitive professionals ready to enter the global media space and demonstrate their high potential on an international level. They represent a new generation of experts capable of shaping modern media standards and contributing significantly to the industry's development.
The results of the "Best Internship Base – 2026" competition, held in honor of the 30th anniversary of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, once again highlighted the high professional standing of the Department of Media Communications and Public Relations. This achievement is rooted in years of systematic effort and the expertise of distinguished educators.
In particular, the dedicated work of Senior Lecturer Aibarsha Zhaksylykkyzy in organizing student internships was highly commended by the University leadership, earning her a special Letter of Appreciation from the Rector. For many years, Aibarsha Zhaksylykkyzy has contributed significantly to strengthening the partnership between the university and industry partners. Under her mentorship, Diamara Kuanysheva, a 4th-year student of the "Sports Journalism" program, emerged victorious, securing 1st Place in the university’s anniversary competition.
Students of the "Digital Media Management," "Public Relations," and "Sports Journalism" programs are already successfully integrating theory and practice within top-tier companies.
Digital Media Management: 4th-year students of the "Digital Media Management" program at the Higher School of Journalism and Social Sciences successfully defended their internship results. The commission noted the high level of preparation and the implementation of specific real-world cases. The "Excellent" grades serve as the best proof that our students are ready-to-work professionals.
Sports Journalism: 4th-year students successfully defended their internship reports for the period of January 19 to February 28, 2026. The commission, including internship supervisor A. Zhaksylyk and members A. Pernebekkyzy, A. Mutarbek, S. Sadykuly, and G. Sakenkyzy, highly praised the students' professional level, responsibility, and creative activity.
Public Relations (Kazakh Division): Students gained experience at premier institutions such as the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "Qazcontent" JSC, the "International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects," and the "Qazaqstan" National TV Channel. They performed tasks ranging from drafting press releases and creating social media content to media monitoring and PR strategy analysis. Senior lecturers G.S. Algaliyeva, A. Zhaksylyk, and A. Mutarbek noted their superior preparation.
Public Relations (Russian Division): Future PR specialists completed their defense conferences by sharing experiences gained at leading communication agencies, government press offices, and business structures. They developed PR strategies, conducted expert interviews, and worked on SMM cases. The students' work was highly evaluated by a distinguished faculty panel led by the Head of the Department, PhD, Associate Professor Gulmira Shaitmaganbetovna Ashirbekova, alongside A. Sauyrbayeva, A. Murat, A. Sabyr, and R. Altaikyzy. The commission emphasized the students' mastery of modern media tools and their readiness for demanding work schedules. We are proud to note that the majority of our students are already employed in their respective fields.
The International Information Agency Kazakparat of the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science was declared the winner in the video competition "Best Practical Base"
