Research work of the Department of Philosophy
At the Department of Philosophy there are scientific schools on dialectical logic, Kazakh philosophy, philosophy of culture, urban anthropology, cultural anthropology. Academicians of the department – Abdildin Zhabaykhan Mubarakovich, Garifolla Yessim; professors – Medeuova Kulshat Agibaevna, Imanzhusip Raushan Nurkhanovna.
The participation of teaching staff in domestic and foreign scientific projects shows the connection with world scientific organizations and the implementation of the EP of the department. Over the past 5 years, the teaching staff of the department has implemented 9 fundamental domestic projects, 23 teaching staff, 19 students were involved in the projects.

In 2015-2017 4 fundamental projects have been implemented at the department:
- Abdildin Zh.M. – «The logic of a scientific idea and its implementation»;
- Garifolla Esim – «Mangilik El» socio-moral, cultural and civilizational foundations of the national idea»;
- Medeuova K.A. – «Actual practices of memory: conceptualization of the past and the construction of identity in the modern culture of Kazakhstan»;
- Alpeisova G.T. – «The phenomenon of national identity in the context of the musical and poetic art of the Kazakh people.»
In 2018-2020 2 fundamental projects have been implemented:
- Medeuova K.A. «Places of memory» in the modern culture of Kazakhstan: processes of commemoration in public spaces;
- Abdildin Zh.M. «The logic of the formation of a holistic, competitive person and the modernization of his spiritual, moral values.»
In 2020-2022 2 fundamental projects have been implemented:
- «Space» in the cultural landscape of Kazakhstan: social and cultural dimension» under the guidance of Professor Medeuova K.A.;
- «Ethics of work and management in the context of social modernization of Kazakhstan» under the guidance of Associate Professor Aubakirov E.N.
Since October 2022, 1 fundamental project has been implemented:
- AP14870269 «Infrastructure of memory: revitalization of the cultural landscapes of Kazakhstan» under the guidance of Professor Medeuova K.A.
- With the support of the Akmola regional akimat, professor of the department Imanzhusip R.N. carries out scientific supervision of the initiative project «Shokan Zholdary».
8 teaching staff of the department are involved in foreign scientific projects:
– participation of the Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy PhD Yermagambetova K.S. in the international project Horizon 2020 funded by the EU. The output for 2020 is the publication of articles in English in a peer-reviewed journal of Lund University, Sweden (EU);
– International cooperation between researchers of the fundamental project АР05132813 «Places of Memory» in the modern culture of Kazakhstan: processes of commemoration in public spaces (supervisor – Ph.D., Professor Medeuova K.A., performers – Ph.D., Associate Professor Sandybayeva U .M.; Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Tolgambayeva D.T.; PhD, Acting Associate Professor Yermagambetova K.S.; Master, Senior Lecturer Ramazanova A.Ch.) with the director of the French Institute for Central Asian Studies ( IFEAC) of Professor Catherine Pujol. As a result of cooperation, topics were prepared in the amount of 5.5 p.l. for the French edition of «Places of Memory in Kazakhstan», funded by IFEAC, publication expected in 2021 (France-Kyrgyzstan);
– International cooperation Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Medeuova K.A. with the fund. F. Ebert in Kazakhstan. As a result of cooperation, a chapter of the book «Inclusive Discourse Today: Models of Exclusion and Inclusion» was written, publication is expected in 2021 (Germany-Kazakhstan);
– International cooperation of Associate Professor Arystambayeva S.A. as a coordinator and associate professor Tolgambayeva D.T., associate professor Yermagambetova K.S., master Ramazanova A.Ch. as a national expert in the international project work «Cultural Rights in Kazakhstan» implemented by the Public Foundation «Institute of Parliamentarism» with the support of the German Embassy. As a result of cooperation, recommendations on cultural law were written, researchers took part in an international conference with the participation of representatives of UNESCO and the UN, a brochure was published (EU);
– International cooperation Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Medeuova K.A. with a research platform for the study and comprehension of processes, events and «blank spots» that remained in the memory of the people and history – the public fund «Esimde». As a result of cooperation, doctoral students have the opportunity to undergo scientific internships, teaching staff of the department and students participate in joint scientific events (Kyrgyz Republic).
– Medeuova K.A. is also an associate researcher at the French Institute for Central Asian Studies – IFEAC (France-Kyrgyz Republic).
Thus, over the past 5 years, the teaching staff of the department has implemented 9 fundamental projects through the KN MNVO RK, 1 initiative project with the support of the regional akimat and 5 international projects. The results of the research work of the teaching staff of the department are introduced into the educational process through the introduction of new elective disciplines, which meets the requirements of the EP and the scientific interests of the teaching staff.
Research Activities of the Department of Philosophy The research activities of the academic staff of the Department of Philosophy are characterized by active participation in national and international research projects, which indicates the Department’s strong integration into the global academic community and the alignment of its research with the educational programs implemented by the Department. Over the past five years, the academic staff of the Department has implemented 10 fundamental national research projects. Among them: In 2020–2022, 2 fundamental projects were implemented: – “Cosmos in the Cultural Landscape of Kazakhstan: Social and Cultural Dimensions” (Principal Investigator – Doctor of Philosophy, Professor K.A. Medeuova); – “Ethics of Labor and Management in the Context of Social Modernization of Kazakhstan” (Principal Investigator – Candidate of Philosophy, Associate Professor E.N. Aubakirov). In 2022–2024, 1 fundamental project was implemented: – AP14870269 “Memory Infrastructure: Revitalization of Cultural Landscapes of Kazakhstan” (Principal Investigator – Doctor of Philosophy, Professor K.A. Medeuova). In 2023–2025, 2 fundamental projects were implemented: – BR21882302 “Kazakhstani Society in the Context of Digital Transformation: Prospects and Risks” (Head of the subproject “Research Ethics” – Doctor of Philosophy, Professor K.A. Medeuova); – AP19679307 “Development Strategy of Kazakhstan: The Problem of Mediation in the Resolution of Contemporary Social Conflicts” (Principal Investigator – Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Garifolla Yessim). In addition, 4 projects under the “Zhas Galym” (Young Scientist) program were implemented by young faculty members holding PhD degrees (A. Amangeldiyev, A. Omirbay, T. Mustafina, D. Orazbayeva). For the period 2025–2027, one fundamental project is being implemented under the leadership of PhD A. Amangeldiyev. A total of 8 academic staff members of the Department are involved in international research projects: – international collaboration of the research team of the fundamental project AP05132813 “Sites of Memory in Contemporary Culture of Kazakhstan: Processes of Commemoration in Public Spaces” (Principal Investigator – Doctor of Philosophy, Professor K.A. Medeuova) with Professor Catherine Poujol, Director of the French Institute for Central Asian Studies (IFEAC). As a result of this collaboration, materials totaling 5.5 printed sheets were prepared for the French publication “Sites of Memory in Kazakhstan” (France – Kyrgyz Republic); – international collaboration of Doctor of Philosophy, Professor K.A. Medeuova with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Kazakhstan, resulting in a book chapter entitled “Inclusive Discourse Today: Models of Exclusion and Inclusion” (Germany – Kazakhstan); – participation of Associate Professor S.A. Arystambayeva as coordinator, as well as Associate Professors D.T. Tolgambayeva, K.S. Yermagambetova, and Master’s degree holder A.Ch. Ramazanova as national experts in the international project “Cultural Rights in Kazakhstan”, implemented by the Public Foundation “Institute of Parliamentarism” with the support of the German Embassy. Within the framework of the project, recommendations on cultural rights were developed, a brochure was published, and researchers participated in an international conference with representatives of UNESCO and the UN (2021); – international collaboration of Doctor of Philosophy, Professor K.A. Medeuova with the public foundation “Esimde”, aimed at studying processes of collective memory. Within this collaboration, doctoral students undertake research internships, and both academic staff and students participate in joint scientific events (Kyrgyz Republic); – Professor K.A. Medeuova is also an affiliated researcher at the French Institute for Central Asian Studies (IFEAC); – Senior Lecturer A.Ch. Ramazanova has been a researcher in the international project “Turk Barometer” since 2023, implemented with the support of the Turkic Academy. Thus, over the past five years, the academic staff of the Department has implemented 10 fundamental projects funded by the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including 5 grant-funded projects, 1 program-targeted (mega-PTP) project, and 4 projects under the “Zhas Galym” program. Students are actively involved in the implementation of research projects, including doctoral students of the educational programs “Cultural Studies” (Bakytova L., Tlepbergen A., Muzappar E.) and “Philosophy” (Kikimbayev M., Mukusheva A.). The results of the research activities of the academic staff are integrated into the educational process through the development and introduction of new elective courses, which correspond to the requirements of the educational programs and the research interests of the faculty.
